Just one more

Just wanted to share one more photo form Zach and Michel’s wedding.

Film and Digital

As you’ve noticed I’ve been shooting film lately.   I’m still not even close to being confident when I shoot with film.  I don’t have a light meter, which is a must to know if you’re exposing properly, so I’ve been trying to memorize my exposures as much as possible.  But you need to start somewhere so during my sessions I would whip out my film camera and take a couple of frames with it and then switch back to my digital.  Below are a couple of poses I took with both my digital and film cameras.  See if you can tell which is which?  One is not better than the other.  It all depends on preference.  For me, film is my personal preference.  There’s a creaminess and softness to it that I love.  Also look at the highlights, especially in photos 3 and 4.  In #3 they’re totally blown out where you can’t see where the train car ends and the sky starts and #4 you can totally see the blue sky AND the subjects are better lit.  Beautiful!  Again it’s all preference.  The color is usually spot on where with digital I have to almost always tweak it and even after that sometimes I think things should be warmer, or colder.  And for someone who hates post processing film is the way to go.  Just send it to the lab and it comes back looking amazing.  Much better than spending hours behind a computer.  I really hope to get better at shooting film and start incorporating it more in my sessions.  If anybody wants to take a leap with me had have an entire session shot on film please don’t hesitate to ask when booking!

I love when I’m done with a session and I still have a few frames of film left.  I can waste it on my kids.  :)

Happy Sunday!

Ethel M on Film

Earlier this year I posted photos from our trip to Vegas.  We visited Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Gardens.  I took photos with my Holga film camera as well as my digital camera.

Here’s the film version.
