Just some thoughts

I feel like I haven’t written just to write in a long time.  I’m supposed to be studying for my Art History test I have on Monday, which don’t worry mom I’m going to do great, but I really needed a break.  It’s Saturday afternoon.  Last night we had a Late Over Birthday Party for Drew.  A late over is where the kids don’t sleep over but they stay over late.  And for 5 and 6 year olds late is 9:30.  My wonderful sister that you always hear me talk about, Nikki, came over to keep me company as well.  Kurt took off like a bat out of hell when he found out we were going to do mani’s, pedi’s, makeovers and hair.  We also watched Tangled, which he was sad he didn’t get to watch but we watched it just the two of us when the party was over.  So anyways it was fun having my sister to talk amongst little people I just wish our conversation wasn’t so sad.  My sisters father in law has stage 4 skin cancer.  My dad passed away from cancer over 10 years ago so you can say we understand the seriousness of cancer.  I think once you know someone who’s died from this illness you don’t have that stage of shock anymore.  You go right into accepting the realization that this person may or may not be in your life any longer and you make every second with them count.  Nikki and I were talking about how we wish we could’ve snapped out of that shocked stage sooner because we didn’t until he was gone.  I was worried about going on a date with a guy I really liked instead of visiting my dad in the hospital.  We all thought he was just sick and he’d come home when he got better, but he didn’t.  I kick myself in the pants every time I think about it because I should’ve made him my first priority but I guess you just don’t understand unless you’ve been there once.  Something I always regret is not having more pictures of and with him.  I have two pictures of my dad, well three if you count the one taken in 1985 and he looked like a pimp, but I don’t.  One picture where he still looks healthy, he and my mom are on the balcony of our home they built together and everything looks grand!  The second picture he and my mom are sitting in the back yard of a house we were renting, my dad’s hair was curly because it had started to grow back but you can tell he is very sick.  He and my mom are looking at each other.  These two pictures are priceless to me but how I wish I had a picture with him.  With all of us.  And just, more.  So as Nikki is talking to me about her father in law I’m leading her downstairs to the computer and I pull up these two blog posts.

I then pretty much yelled at her to get family pictures taken because he may get worse, hopefully not, but he may and you want to remember him as he is.  I really had no idea what I was going to type today as I sat down to the computer.  I just started typing but I realize I feel so strongly about this that it has been very forefront in my mind since she told me he had cancer, that my thoughts easily came to this.  So I want to offer this to you my fellow followers, the same thing I’m offering Nikki and her family, If you have a loved one that is ill I would LOVE to take photos of you and your family for just the cost.  Nothing comes to me.  But it will be shot with film so you will need to pay for the film and developing and any cost for me to travel.  I will offer this through the rest of the year.  After December 31st I will charge as if it’s a normal session.  PLEASE pass the word along and don’t pass on this opportunity.  So just to get an idea for one family of 4-7 people the cost would be around $50.  Double the amount of people and double the price.  This is a GREAT opportunity for extended family if every family just pitched in around $30 you are set.  If this is something you’d like to take advantage of, email or call me and I’ll give you and exact quote.  This is not for my gain at all.  If I could do it for free I would but the look of film is the look I want to give you.  So again pass this along, don’t pass it up and I’ll be praying for you and your loved one.

G Family

It doesn’t get any better than newborn AND family portraits.  Especially when you have a beautiful family like the “G” family.  This was one of my first all film shoots and I have to say this session has made me even more addicted to film (if that’s possible) then I was before.  We went to a park in Cedar City for the session and I’m so glad we did because all the green background really makes this family with their light eyes really pop!  Also this family was able to play and interact with each other as if they were really enjoying a day at the park.  No setup here except for an area to be themselves, a beautiful family with a spunky-almost-6-year-old, and lots of love!

Willams Family

I have been totally bad at posting lately!  I’m in the middle of my second block of summer semester so I’ve been staying late studying for tests that I have all this next week.   Then when I am home I’m busy again, studying, doing the business side of things and hanging with my family so blogging has gone to a far corner of my mind.  But alas!  I am still alive and I’m hoping to give you a few days of constant posts.  Because I know my readers, all three of you, are dying to hear from me.

(chirp, chirp)

So anyways!  Here’s the Williams family.  I grew up with Stephanie in Hawaii.  She and her family just barely moved back from California to Utah.  Her husband, Mike, left the day after we took photos for the middle east… hahaha, I almost put Middle Earth!  He’ll be gone for a whole year but we’re hoping he can come back for a little vacay in 8 months because Steff just found she’s pregnant!  Yay!  So good luck to the Willams family!

More Melanie

These are more pictures from the wedding I second shot with the lovely Meili Ware.  A few days before the wedding we took bridals down in the heart of Salt Lake City.  Melanie, the bride, collects vintage trunks and luggage.  She also set her wedding theme to focus all on families and have a very vintage heritage feel that was both gorgeous and sentimental.  The details and thought she put into her wedding was just amazing!  Stay tuned for more pictures from the actual wedding day!  And again make sure to go check out Meili’s blog!
