Gabe + Melissa | Aiea, HI

I was elated when my good friend Melissa told me she was engaged.  I had never met Gabe before but I knew he had to be an amazing guy for Melissa to say, “yes” to. The only problem with the wedding was in Hawaii and I’m in Utah.  But I knew I had to be there.  So I booked 6 portrait sessions for the day after the wedding and that paid for my ticket back home, to Hawaii.

Now, I was just going to go as a guest but at the last minute Gabe and Melissa asked for me to be the primary photographer.  I was so honored.  Gabe is an amazing videographer and photographer himself.  So you know I was super nervous.  But with all the amazing detail that Melissa put into her wedding, and all the amazing family and friends that attended, my worries melted quickly.

At Gabe and Melissa’s wedding I got the best of both worlds.  I was able to photograph to my hearts content and I was able to enjoy myself as a guest.  The whole day and night went off swimmingly and I am still so grateful I was able to be a part of it.  Congratulations Gabe and Melissa!  Love you guys!

If you just said, “yes” I’m currently booking weddings for 2012 and 2013.   Give me a call, I’d love to hear from you.

Where did you two meet?

At SUU, my room-mate was friends with him. He came to visit her and promptly asked me out on a date!

How did Casey propose?

He didn’t really, it was more of a mutual decision than him proposing… I guess the decision was made when we were talking about marriage and all the anxiety we had had about it for so long. We came to the conclusion that we now had more confidence and love built up between us over the years than the fear we started with at the beginning of our relationship.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Seeing him standing there down the aisle all nervous and beaming…

What advice would you give to brides-to-be who are reading this and planning their wedding?

Don’t be afraid to hire a wedding planner to help! It is totally worth it, especially when it comes to the day-of details!

Honeymoon?

Eventually (Probably in the Summer)! there is talk of New York, Scotland, Germany or the Caribbean…. Too many choices!

Anything you want to say to your husband?

Thanks for doing this brave thing with me:)Love you!

Meryl + Ryan Wedding | Escalante UT

This was a freaking RAD wedding and Meryl and Ryan were awesome to work with!  The wedding took place in this hidden treasure, along a scenic red rock drive, called the Kiva Koffee House.  The reception was held at the Wild West Retreat, who also catered, and had the most delicious home cooked food complete with garden fresh tomatoes that they had just picked that morning.  Meryl did such an amazing job planning this wedding and put personal touches into every little detail.  They are such a lovely couple with amazing friends and family.  I’m so honored to have been a part of their day!  Also a HUGE thank you to my 2nd photographer, Anna with deMille photography!

More Melanie

These are more pictures from the wedding I second shot with the lovely Meili Ware.  A few days before the wedding we took bridals down in the heart of Salt Lake City.  Melanie, the bride, collects vintage trunks and luggage.  She also set her wedding theme to focus all on families and have a very vintage heritage feel that was both gorgeous and sentimental.  The details and thought she put into her wedding was just amazing!  Stay tuned for more pictures from the actual wedding day!  And again make sure to go check out Meili’s blog!
